Artist Statement
Searching beneath the surface by unpacking the layers that we keep secure is a fundamental aspect of Chris Avis’s work. She has used the importance of women and their power to change elements of society in addressing environmental issues in both prints and videos.
.
In Harmony, we are introduced to female figures from ancient times, blended with their natural surroundings, and aligned with the rich vegetation of their environment.
